The history of the German language is quite different from English. If you try to translate word for word, the translation may come out funny sometimes, or just plain ridiculous.

Some other minor differences include the use of the word "you". German has two uses for the word "you". A casual use, and a formal use. The apostrophe is also a little bit different, then the use of the apostrophe in English. Another key point, is that possesives in German normally will not use an apostrophe. This should be a good base to start from, so let us begin lesson 1.3.
